Ultimately participants identified a need to organize Madheshi women across the Terai to improve their social, economic, and political situation. Thus, the Madheshi Women's Advocacy Forum was born.
The overarching goal of the MWAF is to advocate for the improved social, economic, and political status of Madheshi women at all levels of Nepali society. Local chapters in each of the 21 Terai districts were formed and the District Leader of each sits on the MWAF National Steering Committee.
